Type I
A de-icing / anti-icing fluid manufactured and qualified to AMS 1424 / ISO 11075 specifications.
Type I fluids are primarily used for de-icing and do not offer any significant anti-icing holdover protection. Because of this Type I fluids are commonly used as part of a 2 step de-icing / anti-icing procedure when the final application of a Type II or Type IV fluid provides the required extra protection.
Kilfrost offers 4 different Type I fluid options.
- DF Plus Technical DF Plus
- DF Plus (80) Technical DF Plus (80)
- DF Plus (88) Technical DF Plus (88)
- DFsustain Technical DFsustain
Type II
A de-icing / anti-icing fluid manufactured and qualified to AMS 1428 / ISO 11078 specifications.
Type II fluids can be used for de-icing purposes but (unlike Type I fluids) also offer extended anti-icing holdover protection and can be used in a variety of ways:
- Unheated and undiluted (or diluted) for anti-icing
- Heated and undiluted for de-icing / anti-icing as a one step process
- Diluted with water and heated for de-icing / anti-icing as a one step process
- Diluted with water and heated as the de-icing stage in a 2 step process, when used with the unheated and undiluted fluid as step 2
Kilfrost offers 2 different Type II fluid options:
Type IV
A de-icing / anti-icing fluid manufactured and qualified to AMS 1428 / ISO 11078 specifications.
Type IV fluids offer maximum anti-icing holdover protection, but can also be used for de-icing purposes. Similar to Type II fluids, Type IV fluids can be used in a variety of ways:
- Unheated and undiluted (or diluted) for anti-icing
- Heated and undiluted for de-icing / anti-icing as a one step process
- Diluted with water and heated for de-icing / anti-icing as a one step process
- Diluted with water and heated as the de-icing stage in a 2 step process, when used with the unheated and undiluted fluid as step 2
Kilfrost offers 2 different Type IV fluid options:
Runway
A de-icing / anti-icing fluid manufactured and qualified to AMS 1435 specifications for use on aircraft runway/taxiway surfaces.
Kilfrost offers a potassium formate based runway fluid that is applied in cold concentrate form as supplied.
