Kilfrost 400

(Pneumatic Tool Antifreeze Lubricant)

Every winter a great deal of working time is lost due to freezing of pneumatic equipment. This downtime can be minimised if Kilfrost 400 (PTAFL) is used.

Kilfrost 400 absorbs the water in the air, depressing the freezing point of the solution formed, thus eliminating freezing. The stable emulsion maintains high extreme pressure properties, unlike normal oils whose lubrication qualities deteriorate rapidly when water is present.

INDEPENDENT TESTS BY A SWEDISH LABORATORY SHOWED THE WELD LOAD ON A 4-BALL MACHINE TO BE ABOVE 400 KG.

Kilfrost 400 has been successfully tested by Atlas Copco Ltd and the Halifax Tool Company in Down-the-Hole-Hammers at pressures up to 17 bar. The pour point of minus 60ºC, together with a very flat viscosity/temperature curve, will keep pneumatic equipment at full power in low temperatures and moist conditions. Because of its ability to combine with water Kilfrost 400 is ideal for water well drilling, as it washes out of the hole with the first rush of water.

Kilfrost 400 should not be mixed with any other oil, as this will impair its de-icing properties.

The product should only be used in total loss lubrication systems, and while it will function perfectly for low temperature conditions, it should not be used in ambient temperatures above 40ºC. K400 is not an additive, but is a very high quality extreme pressure synthetic lubricant.

Although Kilfrost 400 will absorb up to 4 times its own weight of water, problems may still arise should the humidity be very high or in the event of the compressor producing a lot of water. In this case, adequate water separation equipment should be used, or the problem may be solved by increasing the flow of Kilfrost 400 through the lubricator. As with all airline oils, when working in confined spaces, it is essential that adequate ventilation is provided.

Kilfrost 400 is supplied in 205 litre barrels, 25 litre drums and cartons of 4 x 5 litre bottles.
